    A STUDY ON WORD FORMATIONS FOUND INTELEVISION ADVERTISEMENT

    Word formation is the process of constructing new words from existing materials. There are six kinds of word formations those are Blending, Compounding, Clipping, Borrowing, Acronym, and Abbreviation. In this study, the writer investigates the word used in word formations, kinds of word formations and the lexical meaning of word used in word formations found in television. The writer believes that some consumer do not understand all the lexical meaning of language advertisement using word formations. The purpose of this study was to know the words used in word formations, kind of word formations and the lexical meaning of words used in word formations found in television advertisement. This study is conducted to give contribution for English Department, such as to enrich the knowledge of English Department students about recent linguistics phenomena in English community and to develop the ability of understanding linguistics science. The writer used a descriptive qualitative research design to describe and interpret the word used word formations, kind of word formations and the lexical meaning of word used in word formations found in television advertisement. The object of the study the writer chooses word formations in television advertisement especially in Indosiar program specified to the medicine product. In collecting the data, the writer used observation as the instrument. Here, the writer does direct observation to complete the data, because he wants to get the data from the research objects. To analyze the data, the writer used several step as follows: 1) finding the word and put in the table, 2) classifying the word into word formations, 3) Analyzing the lexical meaning of word used word formation found in television advertisement, 4) Drawing conclusion based on the data. The result of this study shows that 22 words classified into 4 word formations used in television advertisement and the lexical meaning of 22 words in television advertisement especially medicine product. Finally, the writer suggests that this study will encourage other researchers to conduct better researcher, especially in linguistic subject

    The Android-based comic of Gajah Mungkur Dam: improving mathematical representation and critical thinking abilities

    This research aims to: (1) develop a feasible Android-based comic media of Gajah Mungkur Dam, and (2) reveal the effectiveness of the developed comic media in improving mathematical representation and critical thinking abilities on the materials of work and energy. The research subjects are senior high school students, consisting of 262 students for the empirical testing, 36 students for the limited trial, and 72 students for the field trial. This research is research and development applying the 4D model, consisting the stages of definition, design, development, and dissemination. The research instrument includes a validation sheet, evaluation sheet, questionnaire, lesson plans, comic media, and mathematical representation and critical thinking ability tests. The developed comic media contains an introduction, comic’s work and energy materials, users’ manual, instructional video, and discussion column. The data analysis used the MANOVA test. The finding shows that the developed Android-based comic media of Gajah Mungkur Dam is feasible to use with the assessment score of 3.70 or in a very good category from the validator, and score of 3.10 or in a good category from students in the limited trial. The MANOVA test result shows that there is a significant difference between the control class and experimental class.     Development of E-LKPD Based on Kvisoft Flipbook Maker to Improve Concept Understanding of Class X Students on Global Warming Materials Manuscript

    This research is a development research with the aim of developing learning media based on kvisoft flipbook maker on Global Warming material in order to improve understanding of concepts in class X high school students. This type of research is the development of Research and Development (R&D). The design of this study uses the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implement, and Evaluation) model. The research subjects consisted of 26 students in each control and experimental class. The sample in this study was determined by random sampling. The instrument used is an assessment scale to determine the quality of the developed learning media and a concept understanding test to determine students' conceptual understanding. The software used to develop this learning media is kvisoft flipbook maker. Validation was carried out by 3 expert validators and students. Analysis of the data used is SBi to analyze the feasibility of the media and the Mann Whitney Test. The results showed that the kvisoft flipbook maker-based E-LKPD was feasible to be used in improving understanding of the concept of Global Warming in class X high school students. This was based on the average number of learning media feasibility scores by expert validators was 4.6 which means ≥4.21 and the average score of the students' assessment is 3.6, which means ≥3.0. The post-test average score of students' conceptual understanding in the control class was 70.58, while in the experimental class it was 83.85. Then from the results of the non-parametric test, the output of the test statistics is known as Asym.Sig (2-talled) with a value of 0.049 which means α˂0.05

    Nowadays, the most popular gadget owned by students is a smartphone. The sophistication of smartphones is not only used by students as a communication tool, but also internet browsing, reading e-books, and various other features that can facilitate student activities. In particular, smartphones create conditions for accessing educational programs, scientific materials, and mobile applications for field experiments. Many sensors are integrated in smartphones, thereby adding to the functionality of the smartphone itself. For example, basically every smartphone has an acceleration sensor that is used to determine orientation relative to the acceleration of gravity, a magnetometer to help GPS sensors for navigation, as well as a light sensor and a gyroscope to measure rotational speed. Pressure sensors are also available on some smartphones which can be used as indoor navigation. All of these sensors can be read with the appropriate application and can be used for smartphone-based school experiments, especially in Physics learning. Phyphox is one such sensor reading application that offers many features on it. This study provides reference for the Physics experiments innovation using Phyphox that can also help Physics educational practitioners and researchers to improve the scope and quality of Physics learning programs

    PENGARUH MASSA BEBAN TERHADAP INTENSITAS KELUARAN FIBER OPTIK YANG DIBENTUK DENGAN LEKUKAN MULTI BENDING

    Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui pengaruh pengelupasan jaket akibat pemberian massa beban terhadap lebar lekukan pada fiber optik dan untuk mengetahui pengaruh massa beban terhadap intensitas keluaran fiber optik akibat pada lekukan multi bending serta mengetahui sensitivitas terbaik dan linieritas terbaik pada sensor fiber optik. Sensor serat optik diberikan efek lekukan multi bending oleh tekanan pipa silinder yang dipasang diantara dua penampang dan dihubungkan dengan empat pegas sebagai penyangga. Penelitian ini menggunakan sumber cahaya laser He-Ne (623,8 nm) dengan daya sebesar 5mW dan panjang gelombang 632,8 nm. Laser He-Ne memancarkan cahaya melalui Polymer Optical Fiber yang kemudian diterima oleh photodioda yang ditransmisikan melalui rangkaian pengikut tegangan sebagai detektor selanjutnya nilai hasil pengukuran intensitas keluaran tegangan dibaca oleh multimeter digital. Kepekaan sensor dianalisis berdasarkan variasi diameter pipa silinder yaitu 1,5 cm, 2 cm, dan 2,5 cm serta tekanan yang diberi massa 0 gram sampai 950 g. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa massa beban pada fiber optik mengakibatkan terjadinya kelengkungan pada sensor fiber optik sehingga rugi daya pada fiber optik optik semakin meningkat dan tegangan keluaran sensor semakin kecil. Pengukuran tegangan keluaran sensor diukur untuk setiap variasi diameter pipa silinder 1,5 cm, 2 cm, dan 2,5 cm. Hasil pengukuran yang diperoleh adalah sensitifitas meningkat ketika massa beban pada fiber optik semakin membentuk lekukan yang tajam. Hasil pengukuran terbaik diperoleh sensitivitas sensor sebesar -9,71437E-6 ± 2,33219E-7 dan linieritas sensor terbesar 0,99485 yaitu pada diameter pipa silinder 1,5 cm

    The effect of the use of indigenous knowledge-based physics comics of android-based marbles games on verbal representation and critical thinking abilities in physics teaching

    This research aims to reveal the effectiveness of the use of an indigenous knowledge-based physics comic of Android-based marbles games on verbal representation and critical thinking abilities. It is a quasi-experiment applying the pretest-posttest control group design. The research sample consists of two classes: the control and experimental classes, each of which consists of 35 students established using the cluster random sampling technique. The effectiveness of the indigenous knowledge-based physics comic of marbles games was analyzed using the quantitative method applying the effect size analysis. The result of the effect size analysis obtained from Cohen’s f in verbal representation ability is 0.11 interpreted as medium effect size and critical thinking ability is 0.43 interpreted as large effect size. This shows that the developed indigenous knowledge-based physics comic of Android-based marbles games in physics teaching gives effects to verbal representation and critical thinking abilities of the students.     Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kelayakan, kepraktisan dan keefektifan media Mobile Learning IPA berbasis kearifan lokal pembuatan kain sasirangan (MLI Sasirangan App) untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis dan menfasilitasi literasi TIK peserta didik. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dan pengembangan yang menggunakan model 4-D yang terdiri dari tahapan define, design, develop dan disseminate. Sampel penelitian adalah 30 peserta didik kelas VII G sebagai kelas kontrol dan 25 peserta didik kelas VII I sebagai kelas eksperimen yang menggunakan MLI Sasirangan App. Pengumpulan data melalui tes dan non-tes. Desain penelitian untuk menentukan keefektifan penggunaan media untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis yaitu menggunakan pretest-posttest control group design sedangkan keterfasilitasan literasi TIK hanya diamati pada kelas eksperimen. Instrumen pengumpulan data yang digunakan terdiri dari lembar validasi dan kepraktisan produk, tes keterampilan berpikir kritis, lembar observasi, angket literasi TIK, dan angket respon penggunaan MLI Sasirangan App. Data keterampilan berpikir kritis berupa gain score dianalisis menggunakan independent sample t-test dan data keterfasilitasan literasi TIK berupa nilai persentase keterlaksanan tugas dan respon pembelajaran online yang dianalisis secara dekriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mobile learning IPA yang dikembangkan layak dan termasuk dalam kategori sangat baik menurut ahli serta praktis digunakan dalam pembelajaran IPA menurut guru IPA dan peserta didik. MLI Sasirangan App yang dikembangkan tersebut efektif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis dan dapat menfasilitasi literasi TIK peserta didik

    The effectiveness of the use of augmented reality-assisted physics e-module based on pedicab to improve mathematical communication and critical thinking abilities

    This study aims to reveal the effectiveness of the use of an augmented reality-assisted physics e-module based on the local wisdom of the pedicab in improving mathematical communication and critical thinking abilities. The study used the 4D model. Empirical trials were conducted involving 255 grade XII students. The effectiveness test was conducted in class X with 36 students as the experimental class and 36 students as the control class at SMA Negeri 1 Depok, Sleman. The data analysis used the QUEST to see the validity and reliability of the items, and the MANOVA test was carried out to see the effectiveness of the media. The results showed that the augmented reality-assisted physics e-module based on the local wisdom of pedicab was effective in improving mathematical communication with a score of 0.40 (large) and critical thinking abilities with a score 0.11 (medium)Peer Reviewe
